Senior Deskside Technicians
On behalf of our client, Procom is looking for 2 Senior Deskside Technician to support in the migration of about 300 legacy virtual desktop users (i.e. VDI) to new Windows Virtual Desktops (WVD) on the Azure cloud platform.
Responsibilities
-Review and analyze the desktop software on existing VDI desktops
-Confirm requirement for the new WVD desktop including desktop software and connectivity to business systems
-Create detailed Service Requests in the ServiceNow system to request a WVD for new users based on the users' requirements
-Create Service Requests in the ServiceNow system for firewall rules to business systems for new WVDs as required for users
-Contact users to schedule cutover from existing VDIs to the new WVDs for individual or team cutovers (up to 15 people on some teams)
-Assist users to transition to the new WVDs including migrating user data and application configurations where required
-Ensure that the user is satisfied with WVD performance through an acceptance test of the new WVD and ensure that the legacy VDI can be decommissioned
-Issue Service Requests to decommission the user from the legacy VDI systems
-Monitor, track and/or report progress based on requirements
-Other related activities and deliverables as required Required
Qualifications & Skills
-A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated work experience in a customer service environment
-Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 desktop OS including virtualized versions running on VMWare and Azure cloud including admin access
-Demonstrated ability to resolve virtual desktop related issues related to the applications
-Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot connectivity issues to backend business systems related to the new WVD
-Excellent interpersonal skills to work with a wide variety of users and user skill levels to transition them from VDI to WVD
-Microsoft Certification: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty
-Ability to engage the technical support staff to resolve user issues
-Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy under pressure
