Who we need

Our Mississauga plant is adding a Packaging Machine Operator to our team. You will be trained on our high-quality standards, and work as part of a team of two operating packaging machinery. You will be primarily responsible for operating a line that produces high-quality single serve coffee capsules or tea bags.

This is a full-time, hourly opportunity working Monday - Friday night shifts or continental 12-hour day or night shifts.  There will be overtime opportunities for vacation coverage.

What you will do:

  • Learn. You will undertake training in primary and secondary roles, participate in oral reviews with the Supervisor, and complete a written assessment. You will gain insights into the emphasis on quality and how to prevent mistakes that have a high-cost impact. You will build out a good understanding of the packaging process from end-to-end.
  • Operate high caliber, complex equipment as part of an automated food packaging line. You will perform all aspects of the packaging with a coworker as assigned. You will adhere to our high standards, working alongside us to achieve world class safety results.
  • Enhance our production. You may be involved in onboarding new equipment, developing SOPs, or trialing new machines, materials, or products.
  • Be responsive and meet demands. You will maintain an awareness of when and how the  machines need to be adjusted to correct for out-of-spec conditions. You will look, listen, attend to mechanical problems and respond urgently to failures. You will prioritize and plan the packaging in order to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Ensure quality. You will be part of our lean manufacturing environment, with involvement in continuous improvement initiatives. You will develop an understanding of our Data Management System and ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the supply chain.

What you bring to the role:

  • The certification and knowledge. The ideal candidate would have at minimum a college-level education in an engineering technology discipline (mechanical, electrical, industrial) as a technician or technologist, or completion of Grade 12 or equivalent with manufacturing experience in highly-automated packaging equipment. You have a technical and a mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, analytical, and mathematical skills.
  • The experience and growth mindset. You may have direct experience in the food and beverage industry or another processing and packaging industry. You want to grow your knowledge through training to develop an in-depth understanding of our automated manufacturing process in a lean environment.
  • The accountability. You take ownership of your work and the quality of the products. You are detailed, accurate and capable of reading and understanding technical information. You work well under pressure, make quick decisions when needed, and handle multiple tasks at a physically and mentally demanding job.
  • The interpersonal skills. You can take verbal and written directions and communicate effectively. You can work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize your work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • The flexibility. You understand the demands of a night shift and can commit to the shift.
