Role Summary
To ensure that the assigned equipment is operating safely, efficiently and in an organized manner in accordance with the plant rules and schedules.
Key Responsibilities• Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects the P&F expectations, P&F's vision/values through Magna's Employee Charter.
• Follow and abide by all government, Legal, Magna and P&F rules and regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Read blue prints and draft technical sketches
• To support and work with Fabrication Leadhand
• Assist in preventative maintenance for conveyors, air compressors, driers and chilled water systems
• Operation of sheet metal sheer, brake, and cutting tools
• Ability to use oxy/acetylene cutting torch
• Exhibits basic mechanical design skills to implement continuous improvement projects
• Assists in design and fabrications of platforms, structures, carts, stands etc.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and workplace safety
• Work safely and follow all safety rules at all times.
• Report any unsafe or unhealthy conditions immediately.
• Know and understand all Magna, Federal, State and Local legislated duties.
• Play an active role in maintaining housekeeping in the area and ensure that area of responsibility is clean, tidy and organized at all times.
• Attend training as required or as assigned.
• Know what to do in an emergency.
• Know the operating instructions for all equipment and processes where you are assigned. Know the pre start-up inspection process, hazards, protective measures, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, start and stop procedures and equipment limitations.
• Attend all physical examinations and tests including those required for respirator use and hearing protection.
• Be knowledgeable about any chemicals that you work with or that are in your immediate environment.
• Wear required PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, aprons, respirators and head protection.
• Other duties as may be required.
• Grade 12 education or equivalent and work experience
• Minimum three years experience in fabrication/machining
• Mechanical oriented
• Forklift License
• Good communication skills both written and verbal in English
• Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job
