Role Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Generalist coordinates the implementation of policies, and programs at the Magna Corporate Office. The Human Resources Generalist assists and advises employees and management on Human Resources issues and supports Human Resources programs. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination of Employee Meetings for the Corporate Office 
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager with creating meeting agenda
  • Create PowerPoint presentation in collaboration with presenters
  • Administer Service Award program 
  • On-boarding new employees including conducting new hire orientation 
  • Administering the Performance Management and Goal Setting process for the Corporate office including preparing and delivering training and answering employee and management questions 
  • Along with the Human Resources Manager, implement Employee Opinion Survey Action Plans and present at department meetings
  • Coordinate Corporate Wellness initiatives with the Human Resources Manager and Wellness team
  • Conduct Exit Interviews and prepare termination files for departing employees
  • Administer short and long-term disability claims 
  • Assist the Human Resources Manager with employee relations at the Corporate Campus, following the principles of the Employees Charter
  • Workday Implementation
  • Assist Corporate Human Resources Manager with Workday functions during implementation and post implementation 
  • Act as point of contact for employee inquires regarding the Corporate Employee Handbook
  • Maintain the time off tracking system for Corporate office
  • Represent the Human Resources Department on Magna's Fairness Committee
  • Participate as a member of Corporate's Joint Health and Safety Committee 
  • With direction of Human Resources Manager, develop and implement continuous improvements to Human Resources policies and procedures
  • Project work, as required
Key Qualifications/Requirements

Knowledge and Education

  • CHRP certification
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or related field  
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of current legislation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)

Work Experience

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in a Human Resources Generalist position
  • Previous Magna experience preferred
  • Previous experience working in a corporate environment preferred

  • Strong presentation skills

Work Environment

  • Standard office environment
  • Some local travel to satellite offices
