Manufacturing Process Engineer



Role Summary

A Division of Magna, Polycon Industries is a World Class supplier of automotive parts.  Polycon moulds, paints, assembles and sequences automotive products to OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturers).       

JOB PROFILE:  We are in search of a Manufacturing Process Engineer  to develop, implement and improve manufacturing processes for automotive exterior plastic products. This includes but is not limited to the implementation of automated processes and refinement of current assembly equipment to maintain and achieve customer requirements and Company KPI's. Other necessary manufacturing engineer skills include project management, process control, commitment to quality and familiarity with safety and environmental standards.
 

Key Responsibilities

-    Champion the design/development and implementation of new Assembly process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects and new               launches, which contribute substantially to Company profitability
-    Manage launch activities, engineering changes, VAVE activities, support quality fast response meetings and trouble shoot production issues on the line
-    Create, update and maintain all process documentation (PFMEA's, process flows, work instructions, time studies, MOST studies, KPI reports etc.) required for the length of the program
-    Consider Customer requirements and specifications to develop robust cost-effective processes
-    Interacts with Team for operational trouble-shooting, process improvement projects, production materials requirement, raw material availability and Quality requirements. Use WCM tools and                     philosophy accumulated data to prepare diagrams and flow charts for the efficient operation of the equipment
-    Maintain safe working practices and compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations and all other governing bodies
-    Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and Policies as Outlined in the Team Member Handbook, Quality and Environmental Programs (i.e. TS16949, ISO14001)
-    Identify and validate new technologies available to improve current processes
-    Performs standard cost evaluations and adjusts standard costs to capture improvements to manufacturing processes
-    Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
-    Lead/own CPARs;(corrective and preventative actions), 8D's and MOCs (Management of Change) to resolve production and customer issues
-    Performs other duties as required

Key Qualifications/Requirements

-    Degree in either Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or equivalent required
-    Minimum Five (5) years related experience within an automotive assembly or similar manufacturing industry
-    Experience with automotive plastic products and processes and asset. Ie: exterior products, surface preparation, bonding of materials and assembly of plastic products 
-    Computer skills in Auto Cad, Solid Works, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project
-    Capable of understanding customer specifications and requirements
-    Capable to read and interpret CAD drawings and customer GD&T
-    Proven analytical, problem solving, decision making and negotiation skills
-    Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
-    Must have excellent teambuilding and leadership skills
