Product Owner - Permanent Role – Job Description
- Work with the Product leadership and other Product Managers on aligning to the platform vision and strategy, and contributing to the overall future direction of the product
- Relay the product vision clearly and concisely to the Engineering team
- Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer and user needs, seek out new opportunities and establish actionable insights to form a concise product backlog
- Balance the needs of the business, the customer, and technology to make timely, validated and clear decisions regarding the product (including sometimes saying "no" or "not now" as the right answer)
- Contribute to the wider product roadmap planning and co-ordination effort to ensure a holistic customer experience, and professional operations
- Prioritize the backlog to focus on product impact, health and objectives
- Explain the product and its roadmap to business stakeholders including Marketing and Business Development when necessary
- Work with the Design and Engineering teams to clearly define requirements and acceptance criteria, in order to deliver the most value to our users
- Build a relationship with the Design team to establish and maintain our collective understanding of the user, ensuring you are collaborative and curious partner in any user research
- Collaborate with engineers to establish feasibility and plan for the development of secure maintainable solution
- Work with the colleagues in Product to communicate the release of new features, and encourage effective adoption amongst customer base
Product Owner - Permanent Role – Mandatory Skills
- Completed post-secondary education in a relevant field preferred, or equivalent work experience required
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager
- Experience in working with Design and Engineering teams to create the best solutions to problems, needs, and opportunities
- Proven ability to be highly analytical and technical in approach (this will be a more a technical product role, vs. a customer-facing role)
- Demonstrated skill as a negotiator with the team and stakeholders
- Experience in validating assumptions and grounding ideas in data, combined with an entrepreneurial streak in identifying opportunities and solutions and to guide the team through them
- Experience in working with analytics and data to draw insights
- Experience in working directly with users to understand their needs
- Passion for technology, business, and users and the ability to turn business vision into product objectives and establish key results to monitor performance
- Ability to prioritize and discern the need for urgent delivery against effective discovery and validation
- Experience using Jira and Confluence or similar
- Experience in delivering digital solutions using Scrum, with experience of working with Scrum Masters to learn from all relevant ceremonies
- Exceptional organization skills, proven success in managing competing priorities, and planning/using time effectively without requiring direction to execute tasks
- Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail, combined with the ability to articulate the product vision clearly
